The 6-day Umbwe Route is one of the shortest and steepest standard routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It approaches the mountain from the southern side through a steep rainforest ridge, reaches Barranco Camp on Day 2, then joins the Southern Circuit toward Karanga and Barafu before the summit attempt. The descent is via the Mweka Route
